Expect to see the next installment of the WWE Smackdown vs Raw series to come out this fall. THQ/JAKKS Pacific just announced that WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2009 are estimating a Q3 release. SvR '09 will be available for the PlayStation 2 and 3, PlayStation Portable, XBox 360, Nintendo Wii and DS, and mobile devices. THQ claims this SvR game will be the biggest and best yet with new additions such as storylines, tag team experiences, and downloadable content. Bob Aniello, senior vice president, worldwide marketing, THQ says, "With dynamic new features and the extension of our gameplay experience through downloadable content, WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2009 will bring more console, handheld and wireless gamers together to enjoy the virtual world of WWE."
Smackdown vs Raw 2009 includes upgrades in the tag team modes such as "hot tag" allowing players to use double team moves and finishers and then pin for the win. For the first time in SvR game history, THQ is adding a "Road to Wrestlemania" mode offering co-op storylines. Along with the class "Create-A Wrestler" mode, there will be a "Create-A-Finisher" option and new moves and attributes to add to your Superstar.
The Nintendo Wii version of SvR '09 offers players more match types and techniques by using the Remote and Nunchuk. The Wii version is also adding more Superstar control by moving the wrestler during entrances and victory scenes.
In the Nintendo DS version, the gameplay changed so players can use the stylus and D-Pad to create a better handheld wrestling experience. Season Mode has also been modified into a role-playing theme that allows players to interact with WWE Superstars, complete certain missions, and improve abilities.
So far, the following wrestlers are confirmed to be in SvR '09: The Undertaker, Matt Hardy, Jeff Hardy, Mr. Kennedy, Chris Jericho, Randy Orton and John Cena. Keep checking on Gamealmighty.com for more updates on Smackdown vs Raw 2009.
