Imagine a post-apocalyptic future where factions fight amongst themselves for the remnants of destroyed cities and burning embers rain down from the sky. Seen it before, right? Well Ageia and Netdevil (AutoAssault developers) want you to imagine that world with accelerated physics.

You can destroy everything in sight.
Might demand some high system requirements for maximum performance - namely a physics card.

Imagine a post-apocalyptic future where factions fight amongst themselves for the remnants of destroyed cities and burning embers rain down from the sky. Seen it before, right? Well Ageia and Netdevil (AutoAssault developers) want you to imagine that world with accelerated physics. That doesn’t mean that you will run faster and talk like chipmunks. It means that the entire world will be deformable and destructible.
That’s the premise behind Warmonger. Recently we were able to step into that dark future to see how the accelerated physics would help us during both the single player and multiplayer portions of the game.
The first thing we noticed was that the rocket and gunfire would push out at the falling embers and send them swirling off like someone blowing into a light snow. What was impressive here was not so much the effect itself, but the shear number of the particles falling in the game world, each one of them capable of the same disruption.
In addition to the volcanic snow, we experienced the freedom that total destructability can provide. Walls could be blown through to create doors and well placed shots at the floor could provide emergency elevator services. Sturdier objects such as traffic barriers can protect you for a time, but enough gun fire or a blast or two from a rocket and your sitting exposed and covered with cement dust.
Other features impressed us as well such as the clear distinction amongst materials. Shooting wood would send splinters into the air and bullets directed at trash dumpsters caused ricochets. Switching to the rocket launcher knocks a goat-sized dent into the thing and sent us off looking for even more of the world to bend, bust, and break. Socially responsible? No. Fun? Yes.
Ageia hinted to us that there could be a lot more Warmongers tearing through forsaken cities destroying things around May or June of this year.
