Game Almighty is a cutting-edge website with a lot of cool tricks up its sleeve. Sure, we could have gone the boring route like our competitors, use only a few colors, avoid Flash at all cost, but the 90s are over! That’s right, we’re all about the buzzword “Web 2.0”. What’s that mean? Hell if we know, but the general consensus seems to be that it represents an integration of various media elements into a unified whole. I almost sound like I know what I’m talking about.
Put another way, it’s a different way to interact with a website. Not everything is obvious to new readers, so Captain Almighty asked me to point out some of the nifty features we offer so you can get the most out of the site. Without further ado, here’s the Game Almighty Site Guide!
Homepage
Our homepage has many diverse elements that may not be apparent at first look. Let’s start at the top, with our navbar.
Navbar
The Navbar is all those little boxes at the top of the screen that say things like “Broadcasts” and “News” and “Reviews”. If you position your mouse over some of them, a word balloon will appear that displays sub-categories. For instance, our News section allows you to navigate to the main News index page, as well as a listing of interviews and a calendar of events.
What’s Hot
What’s Hot displays six of our most current articles, including reviews, previews, interviews and features. It automatically cycles through content, though you can mouse-over a lightning bolt to get a quick reference of each of the articles. If you want to read a specific article, simply click the “Read It” button and off you go! Some times a What’s Hot box may have a “Watch It” button, in which case you can click it, revealing a nifty video-player.
Quote of the Day
Every day we have a new Quote of the Day, which you can find below the news section. “But wait!” you cry, “It’s just a box that says Quote of the Day!” First of all, stop yelling at me. Secondly, you’re right! So click it! Oooo, fancy! Captain Almighty himself should swoop onto your screen, displaying a quote within a fancy word balloon. If not, then you probably need to upgrade your Flash, which you can find here. If you have a suggestion for quote of the day, then please email it to qotd (at) gamealmighty.com.
Next Issue
All the way at the bottom of the page, on the right-hand side, you’ll find a box labeled Next Issue. Now for all intents and purposes, it just looks like your average, everyday graphic. But looks can be deceiving! Try clicking-and-holding the right-side corner and dragging your mouse left. Now we’re talking! That’s some funky big-budget special-effects right there! What you will witness there is a teaser of some of the exciting things we’re working on for release in the coming days or weeks.
Now there is much more to Game Almighty than just the homepage, but until we have time to add to this guide you’ll just have to figure out some of the more interesting things yourself.
